ALWAYS

A friend mentioned to me about this beautiful song "Always" but hilarious music video from Erasure recently and when I checked out the mv, it did make me laugh in amazement and amusement. I couldn't believe they made such an oriental version of the mv. Nevertheless, I do think the song is rather unique and does have some oriental spin to the music.

MOVIES & SONGS

Ok, I decided to start a separate blog to post about the movies and songs that I watched or loved because somehow, it felt strange and a bit confusing to have them on the same blog as the one on nature, plants and animals.

Now begins the arduous task of transferring the individual posts on movies and songs from my other blog to this. Those with a date earlier than this post are those that I transferred over.

SONGS ON WUXIA NOVELS

The cheenah side of me is at work again. I have a penchant for chinese songs from many of the China serial production on wuxia novels such as 射雕英雄传:我只能爱你 and 少年杨家将:诀别诗 etc. I find the lyrics meaningful and music beautiful. Has this got anything to do with my age?

Nature 是你

Oh my god, I found this other favourite song of mine Nature 是你 from 王力宏's earlier albums before he became too commercialized. Sometimes, when a singer becomes too commercialized, the uniqueness is lost.

I included 2 videos because the 1st one was in Mandarin and with sign language and the 2nd was from his concert with English lyrics, which promotes environmental responsibility and ownership. Unfortunately, the sound quality of both videos is not good.

萍聚

This is the night of mandarin songs for me and this is yet another favourite song of mine when I was younger. Performed by 李翊君, I love this song about acquaintances we make in our lives. The lyrics were absolutely meaningful.

当你孤单你会想起谁

This is one of my favourite songs, which translates into who do you think of when you are lonely. I know Nicholas Teo included this song in his earlier album but it was originally performed by a taiwanese boyfriend group 新少年俱乐部 and I prefer this version which sounded so earnest.

天天想你

Recently, the tv has been playing the song from the local movie 割愛》starring Zoe Tay and Hong Kong actor. The theme song 《手中線》was sung by 龔芝怡 and the opening part was from the late 张雨's song 天天想你. The link to the movie's song is attached below:

Born in 1966, 张雨's name literally translates to "born in the rain". He established a rock band and made a successful musical career in taiwan from 1987 and released several mandarin hits, including the above song, which means thinking of you everyday. His rather high-pitched but unique quality voice delivered songs with sincerity and quickly established a following of fans. Unfortunately, at the height of his career, he had a head-on-collision in a traffic accident and died in November 1997. His ardent fans in the musical world wept for the passing of such a young musical talent at the age of just 31, whose life was cut short by the tragic accident.

I wonder how many people remembers him today and I am attaching the song below in memory of him. I certainly remember the song and its lyrics vividly because I do sing it from time to time. However, I must say his voice does sound a bit grating at times.
